Okinawa, Japan 2018

Hey sweeties,

How is your weekend going? For me it’s like this massive headache won’t go away so I’m super happy that tomorrow I’ll be able to get out of the house and just relax outside.. staying at home isn’t really good for so long.

Anyway, as I promised, here is my little article on Okinawa, this lovely island in the East China Sea with beautiful turquoise waters and crazy sea life.

Other than Tokyo, we wanted to do something special and not something that normal tourists chose to do – go on a Japanese island. Most of the tourists that go to Japan do the usual Tokyo – Kyoto – Osaka etc.. and most of them don’t even realize these amazing islands exist. To be honest, for me, I chose to lay on the beach and just enjoy a vacation as it should be – sea&sun. Like that’s my ideal vacation for me… I’m not made for climbing, going on a bike or like walking until you drop ( ok maybe the last part I had to do, but I didn’t like it lol ).

So we landed in Okinawa on July 25th on this little airport and we were actually kinda freaking out cause we took a hotel on a super little island called Sesoko that we got to very late in the evening right before the reception at the hotel was closing. We stood in a little hotel called E-horizon that isn’t the best hotel in the galaxy, it’s super tiny, but very affordable and to be honest, the island was really small and our options were more than limited. We really wanted to stay on this island in the middle of nowhere just so we can have that tranquility and avoid crowded places because there are a lot of people everywhere.

On the beach, we were practically the only europeans, the rest of them being local people. The beach is fantastic, reason why I chose this little island to be our sanctuary. And even on the beach, we had our secret hideout that was also sheltering us from the sun… this lovely cave and no one was there so we had the part of the beach all to ourselves.

Sesoko is very beautiful and wild… I really enjoyed my time there. After a few days of rest, we also went exploring the big island itself and discovering some lovely places.

If you have the time, I recommend visiting Churaumi Aquarium and then exploring the island by bus. We walked a lot… at a point I even started crying lol. My shoes actually fell apart after this trip.

From Sesoko we traded the beach and its wilderness for a couple of days at the Ritz Carlton Okinawa  which is the most amazing hotel that I stood in. I did a full article on it, so don’t hesitate to give it a read.

From there, we went to Naha and we stood at Hotel Palm Royal which is this huge hotel that I previously wrote on my blog as well.

Naha is more metropole.. more city.. a lot of people.. the sky train that is a must see and also Shurijo Castle where you can attend a tea ceremony ( homemade cookies included ! yummy !! ).

For me, Naha is that city next to the seaside that is always busy… kind of like Constanta in Romania 🙂 .

But it was very lovely and I was so lucky to be able to visit this much in a short amount of time…

Kisses,

R.
